Will the redesign be sustained now that the grant period is over?

The chair of the Foreign Language Department and the language faculty of the Spanish section are committed to the course redesign. It is the only option for all students in Spanish beginning in fall 2003. A workshop on the course redesign, its outcomes and alignment with K-16 benchmarks is planned for September 2003 involving Spanish faculty and faculty from four other language groups in the department to examine potential redesign for other languages.

PSU has committed monetary and personnel resources to other redesign projects focused on reduced seat time, infusion of technology into instruction and enhanced student learning during 2003-04 in second year Spanish, introductory computer science, and introductory statistics. Budget permitting, additional proposals will be entertained during 2003-04 for the following year.
