Sustainability The University of Southern Mississippi Will the redesign be sustained now that the grant period is over? The redesigned World Literature course will continue to be offered, because it saves resources and it's demonstrably a success in the area of student learning. Extension of the methodology to the department's composition courses is the next logical step, though that change is likely still a few years away. Many departments, however, have already seen the benefits of leveraging parts of the redesign--the use of streaming video, submission of writing assignments and portfolio materials primarily via WebCT, automated low-stakes quizzing, etc.--so there's an argument to be made that the redesigned World Literature course has already brought to campus a much heightened awareness of what's possible when technology is used to help students learn.
